“Mediation: the next step. The next conflict resolution frontier.” Mediation, a close neighbour to negotiation, is a conflict resolution process in which the parties choose an independent, neutral person to facilitate interaction between them, thereby enabling them to develop new insights into the conflict they are experiencing and ultimately arriving at a non-imposed, mutually acceptable solution. Contrary to arbitration and litigation, in which the parties cede their decision-making power to an arbitrator or judge, mediation enables them to retain their full decision-making power. |
